NY 18HR CCW Firearms Class
Course Overview
New York State's mandatory 18-hour Concealed Carry Safety Training Course — required for all NY CCW license applicants under the NY CCIA (Concealed Carry Improvement Act). Taught by our NRA Certified Pistol Instructor.

This 2-hour live-fire qualification is exclusively for NYC handgun license holders who are renewing their license. A valid, existing NYC handgun license is required to enroll — this is not available to first-time applicants.

Course Overview
Mandatory NJ CCARE (Compliance, Competency, and Range Evaluation) Safety Training for non-New Jersey residents applying for a New Jersey Permit to Carry. A valid NY State or NYC handgun license is required to enroll.
⚠ This Is NOT a Beginner's Course
You must demonstrate proficiency with a handgun before attending. If you cannot safely operate a pistol, you will not pass this course. Private preparatory training is available — contact us if needed.
What You Must Demonstrate
- Safe draw from a concealed holster
- Proper grip, stance, and aiming
- Safe reloading and unloading technique
- Good shooting accuracy
- Safe re-holstering
Shooting Qualification
You will fire 10 rounds per target line at 3, 5, 7, 10, and 15 yards. A minimum passing score of 80% is required. A 10-round semi-automatic pistol is strongly recommended. Extra magazines are advised.
Dress Code
- Belt-loop pants and a sturdy belt
- Strong-side holster only
- Closed-toe shoes (no sandals or open-toe footwear)
- Long clothing recommended to cover the holstered firearm
Included / Not Included
Included: Ear protection, eye protection, target time, and range time. Not included: Ammunition (50 rounds required, 100 recommended).
Upon Completion
You receive a CCARE completion certificate to submit with your NJ Permit to Carry application.

Why Get the Utah CFP?
The Utah Concealed Firearm Permit (CFP) is one of the most widely recognized carry permits in the United States — honored in 30+ states. If you are a green card holder or US citizen living in New York, you can apply for the Utah non-resident permit even without a NY firearms license.

Terms of Service
1. Acceptance of Terms
By enrolling in any class, certification, or consulting service offered by TM Firearms Training ("we," "us," "our"), you agree to the following Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not enroll or use our services.
2. Eligibility Requirements
All students must meet the legal eligibility requirements for the class or permit they are seeking. By enrolling, you represent and warrant that:
- You are at least 21 years of age (or 18 for applicable courses).
- You are legally permitted to possess and handle firearms under federal, New York State, and applicable state law.
- You hold a valid handgun license where required by the specific course (e.g., NJ CCARE and CT courses require a valid NY or NYC handgun license).
- You have disclosed any relevant legal history that may affect your eligibility for a carry permit.
3. Enrollment & Payment
Enrollment is confirmed upon receipt of full payment or a confirmed deposit as agreed. Pricing and scheduling are communicated directly via phone or email. We reserve the right to refuse enrollment at our discretion.
4. Cancellation & Refund Policy
- Cancellation with 72+ hours notice: Full refund or free reschedule, at our discretion.
- Cancellation with less than 72 hours notice: A cancellation fee may apply. Contact us as early as possible.
- No-show: No refund will be issued for students who do not appear on the scheduled class date without prior notice.
- Course failure: If a student does not achieve the required passing score (typically 80%), a remedial session may be offered at a reduced rate. Refunds are not provided for course non-completion due to student performance.
5. Student Responsibilities
All students are required to:
- Follow all range safety rules and instructor commands at all times.
- Arrive on time and bring all required documentation and equipment as specified at enrollment.
- Dress appropriately per course requirements (e.g., belt-loop pants, strong-side holster, closed-toe shoes).
- Handle all firearms safely and responsibly throughout the course.
- Refrain from being under the influence of alcohol or any controlled substance during training.
TM Firearms Training reserves the right to remove any student from a class for unsafe behavior, non-compliance with instructions, or any conduct deemed disruptive or dangerous, without refund.
6. Completion Certificates
Completion certificates are issued only to students who successfully complete all course components and achieve the required passing scores. Certificates are issued for submission to the relevant licensing authority and are not guarantees of permit approval, which is determined solely by the issuing government agency.
7. Limitation of Liability
TM Firearms Training is not responsible for: (a) the outcome of any permit or license application submitted to a government authority; (b) changes in state or local firearm laws affecting permit eligibility after course completion; (c) any injury, loss, or damage occurring outside of our direct training sessions. Participation in live-fire training involves inherent risks that students acknowledge and accept by enrolling.
8. Governing Law
These Terms of Service are governed by the laws of the State of New York. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Queens County, New York.
